We were joined by Mahkmud, a friend of Ahmed and Father Peter. Basically he's a "jacked" dude who keeps Hammas away. We walked to the Milk Grotto and learned about Mary's divine maternity.
Here while breast feeding Jesus, her milk dripped in the grotto and miraculously turned other wise reddish stone to a milk white color. The grotto contains milk powder that is over 2,000 years old and the opportunity to pray here and get milk powder drink/eat brings people from all around the world.
Thousands of people come here every year to ask Mary's intercession for fertility. The Franciscan office has 4,000+ documented cases in the last 12 years of past visitors who were thought to be infertile - some for as long as 22 years; it is believed the holy family lived here right after Jesus' birth and where Joseph had dream that led him to Egypt.
